That’s me on the left there, rocking out. Why am I showing you this? I want to let you know that I’ve been where you are, and I’ve seen the hurdles this musical adventure brings with it. Like most kids with a passion for music, I often thought of how cool it would be to one day be able to go to a recording studio whenever I wanted. I had no idea I’d open one up in 2011.
For a long time, I focused on working with some incredible talent, helping them get their sounds “out there” to storm the world. Then I realized I spent just as much time answering industry questions and helping them navigate “after the studio”, as I did recording and mixing their hits.
Sure, I have formal training in classical piano, formal education in engineering, and even formal training in graphic and web design. What seemed to help these artists the most though, was the experience I gained since I began my musical journey back in 1980 that led me from my training to working as a “multi-instrument” musician, to producing, to recording, to coaching, and ultimately to here.
Since then, the industry landscape has changed drastically for musicians, and in some ways, more opportunity has created an inverse relationship with ease; i.e., more open doors have made for more loads of confusing and overwhelming work to be done.
I’m rebranding now, and with this new chapter, I’m combining everything I know into one explosive opportunity to help artists forge their way up and out beyond the recording experience.

Yes, we do full-day sessions! Book a full-length session and bring your "A" game, because we're about to do some work! (We put in a full day's work, but it's actually fun! Like summer camp...just without the poison oak.)

We can absolutely try! Thanks to technology, we've worked with many artists who we otherwise would have never had the chance to. So, we absolutely accept online submissions for mixing and mastering!
Unfortunately, there has been occasion where, for whatever reason, the recording may not have been "up to snuff" in the first place and so, the final project was less than what the artist was hoping for.
Obviously, these cases were outside of our control, but in all of them, we were able to give advice on how (and how not) to record next time. Many of them gave it another shot and then sent the tracks our way...and we've released a ton of successful tracks!
So, contact us, and let's see what we can do! The rates are the same, with the exception of mastering.
Once we've finished recording all your instruments, vocals, etc. for your tracks, your project enters the mixing phase. You will be given access to your very own private artist portal online where all communication regarding your tracks and projects can be found. You can see what phase your project is in, in real-time, and can see when action on your part is needed (such as in revision approvals, info and/or input needed, etc.). When you've made the final approval you will then be provided a link in your portal where you can purchase and download your tracks.
After the recording phase is finished for a track, the first version you will be given will be a completed and full mix. No previews, raw, or partial recordings will be provided. This is because even a "raw" mix requires time and energy. Time and energy that could be better spent on the "actual" mixing of your tracks! Not to mention that the process of "bouncing down" even a raw mix requires mixing moves that will ultimately wind up being undone before the "real" mixing begins. That's a lot of wasted moves that need to happen and it only prolongs the time it takes to get you your finished track. 😉
This equipment is professional grade, so it needs a smoke-free environment. This includes vaping because of the droplets that can accumulate. Outside though, is a different story. There is even a courtesy bucket outside the door for your convenience. Just make sure and dress accordingly!
Yes, if you're of legal drinking age and find a responsible way to get home. (We want you to be able to come back and release more of your music, after all!) Aside from that, food and drinks are certainly welcome. Just make sure and tidy up when you're done. (And use coasters!)

MOON MUTT is a custom-built, beautiful & budget-minded recording studio located in the country just south of Roswell, New Mexico. It is available for live recording & multi-tracking, mixing & mastering services both in-house & through online collaboration.
An all-wood dedicated tracking room promotes an intimate session between you and your music, while acoustic treatments help to capture the life and spirit of your recording. Proven techniques used in conjunction with the same tried and tested professional microphones used by artists from Snoop Dogg to Miscke Butler, tube pre-amps, and other analog equipment and interfaces begin the signal chain whether you prefer a “live” or multi-tracked recording format.
From there, all tracks are recorded using the widely accepted industry standard bit depths and sampling rates through quality A/D/A converters allowing for clean, well represented sonic reproductions within the dynamic audio spectrum.
