Project Estimate Calculator

So, you wanna get a ballpark idea of what your project budget might need to be? Use this calculator to get an idea! Just keep in mind this is an estimate only and can change based on some variables. Each section will explain a little more in detail, but a good idea is to overestimate any areas you might not have a solid answer for.

Let's get started!

Let's enter some info about your project! Below are two columns; one asking for the number of hours you need to record and the other asking for the number of mics. Need to add multiple tracks? Just hit the "+" sign. Add as many tracks as you need!

Recording Hours

For each track, enter how many hours you might need to record. For reference, the average well-rehearsed 4-piece band needs approximately 5-6 hours to completely track a 4-minute song. This includes set up and tear down, retracking, etc.

Mixing

MOON MUTT charges mixing at a flat rate based on the number of "audio lanes" involved in the mix. The best way to estimate this number is to consider how many mics (or cables) are involved. A vocalist would need one mic, a miked amp might need 2 mics, and a 5 piece drum kit might use 5-9 or more mics. An acoustic guitar that is miked, as well as has a 1/4" plug that is also recorded would be two cables/mics.

Pro Tip!

If you're a rap artist with just you, your 2-track beat, and some ad-libs, you can probably get away with 3 or fewer lanes. If you're a full band, or a rap artist with a fully tracked-out beat, go bigger.

overestimate to budget safely 😎

Last Bit of Info!

Just let me know who you are so I know who I'm about to start rockin' with! As for your email, do not worry. I promise not to spam or blast you, and I absolutely will not sell or abuse your addy.

I will only send you info relevant to your project until you specifically indicate you want to start getting cool info or specials!
